Privacy Policy for Character Jigsaw
This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile game Character Jigsaw (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information. We have built the App to need as little of your data as possible. Please read this policy before using the App.
1. Information the App itself collects
None that personally identifies you. Character Jigsaw does not ask you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or location. Beyond the advertising identifier described in Section 2, the App collects no personal data at all.
The only information the App stores is your game progress and settings (which puzzles you have completed, your progress within a puzzle, your best times, and your sound/music and board-theme preferences), together with a cache of small puzzle thumbnail images. This is saved locally on your device only (using the device’s standard app-storage and app-preferences). It never leaves your device, and we cannot see it. Uninstalling the App removes it.
2. Advertising and analytics (Google AdMob)
The App displays ads provided by Google AdMob — a banner on the menu screen, occasional full-screen ads between levels, and optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch in exchange for a hint. To serve and measure ads, the AdMob SDK and its partners may collect and process certain information automatically, which can include:
- a device advertising identifier (the Google Advertising ID — this is the “Device or other IDs” category in the Google Play Data safety section), collected for advertising and analytics purposes,
- general device information (device model, operating-system version, language, coarse/approximate region derived from IP),
- ad-interaction and diagnostics data (which ads were shown, clicked, and basic performance/crash signals).
This data is collected by, and shared with, Google, not by us, and is used to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, and reduce fraud. We do not receive or store this information ourselves beyond aggregate, non-identifying reports.
Google’s handling of this data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s advertising information.
You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads (reset advertising ID / opt out of ad personalization).
3. Consent for users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the App shows you a Google-certified consent form before any ad is requested, using Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Your choice controls whether Google may use your advertising identifier and similar data to show you personalised ads.
- If you consent, ads may be personalised using the data described in Section 2.
- If you decline, ads are still shown but are non-personalised — Google then uses only the minimum data needed to deliver an ad, cap how often you see it, and prevent fraud. Declining never limits your access to any part of the game.
Legal bases (GDPR Art. 6). Personalised advertising relies on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Basic ad delivery, frequency capping, security and fraud prevention rely on legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). Your local game progress is stored on your own device and is not processed by us at all.
Who is responsible. For advertising data, Google acts as the data controller — see Google’s Privacy Policy linked in Section 2. Stackfern Labs does not receive, store, or have access to your personal data.
How to withdraw or change your consent
- Reset or opt out of your advertising ID on your device: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID or Opt out of ad personalisation. This applies immediately and to every app on the device.
- Uninstall the App, which removes all locally stored game data.
You may also contact us at the address in Section 10 with any question about your consent, and we will point you to the right control or to Google where the data sits with them.
4. In-app purchases
The App currently contains no in-app purchases and does not process any payment or financial information. Rewarded ads are always optional: you are never required to watch one, and choosing not to watch never blocks progress. If a paid option (such as an ad-free upgrade) is added in a future version, it will be handled by Google Play Billing, we will not receive your payment card or financial details, and this policy will be updated before that version ships.
5. We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal information. We do not collect it ourselves. Any data processing related to ads is performed by Google as described above.
6. Children’s privacy
Character Jigsaw is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13. Because the App shows ads served by Google, we configure ad requests for a general (non-child-directed) audience. Parents who prefer their child not receive personalised ads can opt out of ad personalisation in the device settings described in Section 3. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the ad network, please contact us and we will help you take appropriate steps with Google.
7. Data security & retention
Game progress is stored only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App. All data transmitted by the advertising SDK is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections — data is encrypted in transit — and is retained and managed by Google according to Google’s own policies.
8. Your rights
Because the App stores no personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side. You can:
- clear all local game data by uninstalling the App, and
- reset or opt out of your advertising identifier in your device settings (Section 2).
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland you also have the rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time (Section 3). Because advertising data is held by Google as controller, please direct such requests to Google via its Privacy Policy; we will help where we can. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
